So saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of Joan Tabor. Joan's parents and my parents were very close friends, and my brother and I spent many happy times as children at Joan's parents' house playing with Joan and her brother Michael. I was a bridesmaid at Joan's wedding. Joan was a kind, thoughtful, and exuberant person. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Joel and to the rest of Joan's family.

We have just learned of Joan's untimely passing. As others have said, Joan possessed a sharp intellect and great zest for life. If you asked Joan for information or her opinion about something, her delivery of the facts was always impeccable.
Joan and Joel operated as a true team for half a century. Biking, hiking, exploring and enjoying the natural world brought them together. Mutual respect and the ability to explore new passions kept them together. Joan's love of dogs brought them into the world of championship showing where they made many friends. Meeting the needs of discerning and knowlegable customers as well as professional relationships with suppliers and fellow merchants brought Joel much joy in the store.
Joan will be sorely missed.

Joan ,along with her husband Joel, was the owner of the pet supply store where I worked. I loved chatting with her. She knew so much about so many things! I learned a lot about dogs. They were her passion and she loved them like family. She was a strong person who never gave up ,despite all her physical challenges. She will be deeply missed. Tina

Am most grateful to Joan, as my breeder, for my first GSP. She was instrumental and encouraged me for partaking in a first National Specialty Show.. She was knowledgeable, communicative, wise, honest and most perceptive. My sincere condolences to Joel and her family. She will truly be missed. May she be at eternal peace and among her beloved pets.

Joan was a good friend for almost forty years. Although we had different breeds of dogs, we were always able to discuss similarities and differences in an educational way. Joan was witty, smart, insightful, and dedicated in all things she did. I will miss her very much.

Our sincerest condolences to Joel and Joan’s family. Joan’s top winning Zephyr brought us together in the mid 1980s. I admired him and ended up with a beautiful daughter of his. The rest is history…. We shared many a laugh traveling to Nationals together including a memorable trip to Buffalo, NY. Joan could always be counted upon for giving a well thought, honest opinion when asked. I will miss seeing her and talking with her. May she Rest In Peace, surrounded by all of her pets who went before her.
